The mother of the young sons of a homicide victim found near an International Drive retention pond was arrested Thursday in connection with his death, deputies said.
Isabel Garcia, 39, of Mexico faces second-degree murder charges in the death of Carlos Vidal, 35, found partially covered by trash bags Sunday in tall grass by a retention pond near the 11600 block of I-Drive.
According to an arrest affidavit, Garcia and Vidal have two boys together, ages 7 and 10. It said investigators with a search warrant found evidence of "significant" blood and cleanup with bleach at her Orange County apartment. It also said that during an interview, Garcia told deputies she was angered that Vidal had threatened to take their children and move out of state.
A father and son visiting Orlando from North Carolina who left their hotel to go fishing found Vidal's body. Media reports and tips helped Sheriff's Office investigators identify him.
