Chicago police take on firefighters in Battle of the Badges

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago's police officers and firefighters usually work toward the same goal: Keeping us safe.

But not Friday night! It's going down at De La Salle High School for the annual Battle of the Badges. The city's finest and bravest will put pride on the line as they battle in the boxing ring for charity.

As a sport, the sweet science of boxing is certainly helpful when it comes to being on the streets.

Officer Arustus Muhammad - on the job for 11 years - said he has nothing but respect for his opponent.

That said, there's a lot of bragging rights on the line. Firefighter boxer Dave Pineda is looking forward to his rematch. He lost last year, but said this time things will be different.

We shall see!

Doors open at 7 p.m. Friday. Admission is only $20 per person.

The money raised goes to support charities helping police and firefighter families.
