SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

A new blog called "Fail Detroit" that points out metro Detroiters' failures has people talking.  The blog might sound negative, but it could pave the way to success.

"We're trying to do a positive thing with a different spin on it," said Brandon Helderop.

If you ask the blog's co-creators, Helderop and William Bosley, failure isn't necessarily a bad thing.  In fact, it can be a crucial part of the journey.

"A lot of people become successful during the hard times," Helderop explained.

Cities like Detroit are no different.  The blog asks entrepreneurs, innovators and average people from all over metro Detroit to share their failures.

"Each story is made up of what you were attempting, what went wrong, and what, most importantly, what you learned from that," Helderop said.

In the end, it is those lessons that make the difference.

They are hoping that message resonates throughout a city making its way through a tough time and carving a brighter future.
