SANFORD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Sanford police want to talk to a man who approached a teenager on her way to school.

Investigators said the man approached a 15-year-old girl while she was walking to her school bus stop on Live Oak Boulevard on Friday around 6am.

"I let him stand at the bus stop right here by himself," said Rebecca Vasquez, who lives in the neighborhood. "But that makes me feel like I don't want to do that any longer."

The teenager told police the man pulled up next to her in a small red car and asked her if she wanted a ride to school.

Police searched the Hidden Lakes area, but couldn't find anything suspicious. Parents plan to be on the lookout for the man.

Meantime, Vazquez has taught her son how to respond in a similar situation.

"If anyone in a store or if he was walking down the street, or if anyone tries to say your mother or father wants you to get in the car, if they don't say that password, if they don't say that secret word than he doesn't get in the car," said Vasquez.

The driver is described as an older white male, with a wrinkled face, white or gray hair, a mustache, a small gray beard, and brown eyes.

Investigators said the man hasn't done anything illegal, but they want to know his motive.
