PHILADELPHIA -

Although Wednesday started off as a perfect spring day, severe weather moved quickly through our area in the evening.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for several counties by the National Weather Service as heavy rain and lighting made its way through.

Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties were under a severe thunderstorm warning at point, while other areas reported lightning and heavy rain.

CHECK: The latest weather alerts from myfoxphilly.com.

The line of thunderstorms was moving through central New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania at 35 mph. The NWS says these storms were capable of producing heavy rain and cloud to ground lightning strikes, with even the possibility of hail.

The rain could continue Thursday with a slight chance of showers after 10 a.m.
