LAKELAND (FOX 13) -
Lakeland Police arrested three men early Sunday morning in connection with a shooting that sent three people to the hospital.
Maurice Knight, 19, Darmas Harper, 20, and Martavious Knight, 18, are facing a variety of charges including accessory after the fact.
According to a Lakeland Police Department report officers were dispatched to 1514 Fairbanks St. just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Investigators say a large street party was taking place and a vehicle drove by several times before opening fire into a crowd of people.
Several people at the home were armed and returned fire. Three party-goers were struck by gunfire and transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victims were identified as 29-year-old Sharon Bailey, 59-year-old Sharon Grant and 17-year-old DeAndre Lamar. The suspect vehicle was stopped by officers on a patrol not far from the crime scene.
Several shell casings were found inside the vehicle and the three occupants were taken to the Lakeland Police Department headquarters for questioning. No weapon was found.
Knight, Knight and Harper denied firing a gun. One of them however explained that they were shot at first.
Maurice Knight was charged with one count of discharging a firearm in public, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of accessory after the fact. The suspect is no stranger to law enforcement in Polk County with a handful of arrests since 2010.
Harper and Martavious Knight are both facing one count of accessory after the face.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
