That's the question from West Hollywood Councilmember Robert Duran to Los Angeles County health officials.
At issue? The number of meningitis deaths, a growing number, according to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which has been offering free vaccinations since announcing the death last week of Brett Shaad, from West Hollywood.
"When were they going to tell us about RJay Spoon," asked AHF president Michael Weinstein.
The 30-year-old from LA died in December from meningitis. According to his boyfriend, Casey Hayden, health officials talked to him after the death, and recorded the death as such.
Add to that a growing number of cases from San Diego -- including a dead San Diego State grad student, plus a school worker and a one-year-old child, both who are recuperating. And there are 18 cases in Tijuana -- most from an elementary school.
There is no comment so far from county or state health officials to demands from AHS for more public warnings and free vaccinations.
