ATLANTA -

Dolphins are playful and graceful, and are always fun to watch. But you there may be a lot about the mammals you may not know about.

For example, did you know that dolphins have sharp teeth? They have ears, and have their very own filtering system in their mouths. You can learn these facts about dolphins, and more, by getting up close and personal in the new Dolphin Encounter at the Georgia Aquarium.

Lily is an 8-year-old Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, and she is one of the high-flying stars in the show.

"They really appear to enjoy interacting with their trainers and the guests who come and see them," said animal training supervisor, Lisa Mignogna.

It's why the aquarium now offers Dolphin Encounter, where guests can buy a few minutes poolside with a dolphin and a trainer. It's a rare chance to learn about the mammals, and play a little basketball.

"I think that's the best part, is just to get to know them face-to-face, and their own unique personalities that they have," said Mignogna.

Lily appears to be an active dolphin, and she's quite vocal with sounds coming from her blowhole. Her mouth is usually busy with herring.

If you try the Dolphin Encounter, be prepared to get wet. Lily loves to splash!
