PHILADELPHIA -

Tears were flowing at the corner of Swanson and East Gurney in Kensington as a neighborhood remembered Carmen Medina, known here as "China." She was gunned down Tuesday night right in front of her 11-year-old son.

"All I know is she's gone, she's a woman, she's a mom like me. It's sad," one friend told FOX 29.

"I just think it was horrible that the little boy has to live with that," another woman said.

Friends shielded their faces, but remembered the 31-yearold mother of three. She was shot after an argument with a man on the street. As she returned to her car, the gunman opened fire, killing her. Then he pointed a semi-automatic handgun at her son in the back seat. Carmen's boyfriend,  39-year-old Thomas Gorman, intervened.

"The male decedent threw his body in front of the 11-year-old and then he was shot," said Captain James Clark of the Homicide Unit.

All day long, friends came to pay their respects. Some lit candles, others brought balloons. Some just came here to mourn and weep. They asked that we not give their names or show their faces.

"It's a tragedy. She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve this at all," said a friend as she wept openly.

"She was about getting money and raising her kids, like every mother should. I'm a mother," another friend added.

Police patrols were stepped up in the area near the shooting. There have been two other murders and several shootings nearby in recent weeks. Police are looking for a possible link and are worried about retaliation.

"Hopefully, we can stop any more shootings or murders in that area," Clark said.

Clark described the gunman as a heavy set African American male, 6'-2" to 6'-3" tall, with a shaved head. There is a $40,000 reward in this case.

Video games may be pure fantasy, but a violent action-adventure game called "Watch Dogs" has ignited a very real debate in one South Jersey community. Watch Dog allows players to adopt the persona of a James Bond-like computer hacker, chasing an evil mastermind. People say it's chock-full of foul language, sex and violence, features dark and foreboding backdrops. The latest version, which is due out this fall may be set in Camden.
