ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Detectives are looking for a killer whom they say shot a couple dead in their Orange County home late last week.

Annmarie K. Smith and James C. Smith were found by the man's mother Friday morning in their home on Aein Road, southwest of University Boulevard and Rouse Road and north of Jay Blanchard Trail.

James Smith hadn't shown up to an appointment as scheduled.

Neighbors say they heard gunshots between 6 and 7 a.m. Friday.

"A couple of nights ago, there was some fighting down here. A lawnmower started up around 3 in the morning," Patti Messina said.

"Last night, the fighting started about 3 again, and then quieted down, then got loud around 5. [We heard] about 3 muffled shots, that's all we heard," she said.

Anyone with information in this double homicide investigation is asked to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
