Two men were arrested Monday in connection with the February shooting death of an Army veteran at a Winter Park apartment complex.
Jeremy Lamar Long, 19, who had been named a person of interest, was arrested on a warrant in Essex County, N.J. Antoine McLain, 24, was arrested on a warrant in Fayetteville, N.C.
Both are charged with first degree murder in the death of Jeffrey Carpenter, 31, who was found with a gunshot wound at the Sun Key Apartments near Goldenrod Road and University Boulevard. He died shortly after.
Carpenter's girlfriend told Orange County deputies that they were waiting for friends just before midnight on February 22 when two men walked up and shot her boyfriend.
Authorities are not revealing a motive, but they say a citizen tip led to the arrests.
McLain is in the Orange County Jail, and Long is awaiting extradition.
