GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WOGX FOX 51) -

Gainesville police officers have made an arrest in a 2011 sexual battery investigation.

Andre Locus, 19, was taken into custody early Tuesday morning with the assistance of the University of Florida Police Department and the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators received forensic evidence which they said positively linked Locus to an April 2011 case in which a man had forced his way into a home in the 1200 block of SW 1st Ave. and raped a female student at knife point.  Detectives said the man stole her personal electronics and fled.

Officers said that when Locus was arrested, he had possessed property that was stolen from another recent burglary.  Investigators said Locus also took them to a stash of property which they say is likely stolen from numerous burglaries in the area.

Locus is also considered a "person of interest" in the recent SW 10th St Armed Residential Burglary and Sexual Battery, which is still an open ongoing investigation.
