T. Boone Pickens & Gavin Newsom Weigh In On Bullet Train

Posted: Updated:

(FOX 11) At Wednesday's Milken Institute Global Conference, an annual event that brings together financial and public policy leaders, our investigative producer Heidi Cuda caught up with billionaire T. Boone Pickens and California's Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom.

She interviewed both on the current state of California's economy and each had strong thoughts on the $68 billion dollar bullet train, which is facing another hurdle.

A private railroad, which controls a right of way that the rail authority needs for construction, says it may not strike a deal with the authority.

Newsom, who expressed concerns about the future of federal funding for the massive project, says it's right for people to question the rail authority's plans.

Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Atwater), who is the chairman of the House rail subcommittee, is planning a hearing on the project on May 28.
