Cops: Man arrested for selling on CTA train had Tasers on him

CHICAGO (Associated Press) -

A 48-year-old Evanston man who was arrested after trying to sell some goods on a CTA Red Line train on the South Side Wednesday evening had two Tasers on him when taken into custody, police said.

About 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jeffrey Pittman was observed crossing between train cars on the Red Line at 35th Street, soliciting business on CTA property, a release from police said.

He was taken into custody and discovered to be in possession of two Tasers, police said. Police on Friday had no information to indicate whether he was trying to sell the Tasers on the train.

Pittman, of the 200 block of West Grey Street in Evanston, was charged with one count of UUW by a felon, one municipal ordinance violation for unsafe conduct/crossing between cars, and one municipal ordinance violation for solicitation/selling on CTA property.

He was scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing on Thursday. Bond information was not immediately available.
