GREENSBORO, Ga. -

The Georgia State Patrol was busy Saturday on Interstate 20 in Greene County after two separate fatal accident.

According to a spokesperson with the Georgia State Patrol, Calverence Roshard Lee, 29, of Wrens, Ga., was killed in a crash on Interstate 20 about 3 miles west of the Lake Oconee Parkway exit around 11:25 a.m. Saturday.

Troopers say Lee was a passenger in a Honda Accord that was traveling eastbound. The car lost control on the slick roadway and crossed the center median into on-coming traffic. A tractor trailer could not stop in time and sliced the car into two pieces on the driver's side. Both Lee and the driver, Coranda Nicole Peeples, 26, of Morrow, were thrown from the car.

Peeples was taken to Athens Regional with serious injuries.

A second fatal accident happened around 2 p.m. near Lake Oconee Parkway, just a few miles away from the initial accident. Trooper say one person was killed and four others were injured.

A tractor trailer hauling cars heading west on Interstate 20 could not brake fast enough for the stopped traffic from the first crash. It ended up slamming into a Ford Crown Victoria twice, spinning the car into the back of another tractor trailer.

Annaleah Karth, 17, of Rocky Mount, N.C., a passenger in the rear of the car, was killed in the crash. The driver and the two other occupants were taken to the hospital. The driver of the tractor trailer was also transported to the hospital.

Both crashes are still under investigation and charges may be pending.
