FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A 27-year-old woman walking with her 6-year-old daughter was mauled by a pack of dogs Sunday night, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office said.

Brandy Bookamer suffered "heavy" puncture wounds and lacerations shielding her daughter, who was unharmed, the Sheriff's Office said.

Bookamer was attacked by five dogs, thought to be pit bulls, while walking near her Holly Lane home in Daytona North at about 8 p.m.  She was "barely moving" when help arrived, officials said.

Deputies found the dogs thought to be involved, and Flagler Animal Control have seized them.

Bookamer was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Her wounds are not thought to be life-threatening.

Her father, Grover Bookamer, said he is proud of his daughter's efforts to keep his granddaughter safe.  "She's a tough little girl, so she'll come through it alright."
