David Does It: Safari Wilderness Ranch in Lakeland

LAKELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Just 40 minutes southwest of Orlando is a wild African safari.

Safari Wilderness Ranch is a 260-acre preserve in Lakeland, home to more than 500 animals.

The park offers guests a chance to hand-feed ring-tailed lemurs, parakeets and guinea pigs.
Guided wildlife safaris take guests by vehicle, horse-drawn carriage or camelback past herds of water buffalo, antelope, springbok and zebra.

"You can get really get close to the animals. It's a really natural experience," owner Lex Salisbury said.
