Friends Mourn DJ Gunned Down Outside South Street Apartment

PHILADELPHIA -

It was a heartbreaking Mother's Day for the mom of a shooting victim gunned down on South Street as she travels to Philadelphia to identify the body of her son.

Tom Watson, 36, was killed outside of his Second and South apartment at around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Watson worked as a cook at Tavern 222 but was also known in local clubs as DJ Fenicx.

Police sources say video cameras captured two men running away.

Friends are hoping for a quick break on the case.

"It's so unnecessary so unnecessary. It's mind boggling," one friend said. Why would somebody to that? Why would someone do that to such a good person."

This murder is the latest in a string of violent incidents near South Street including, most recently, the shooting of a Society Hill pharmacist just three blocks away.
