Happy Birthday to the oldest living American!

INKSTER, Mich. (WJBK) -

Jeralean Talley was born May 23, 1899, and lives in Inkster, Michigan. On Thursday, she celebrated her 114th birthday.

She is now the oldest living American and third-oldest person in the world, according to the Gerontology Research Group.

Her friends and family call her Mother Talley.

A birthday lunch was thrown in her honor at the Ponderosa Steak House in Dearborn Heights.

As recently as April, she still has enough energy to dance. She bowled until she was 101. She rolled 200 in her last game.

She says she drinks coffee and not wine. Fitting for the gift we gave her, a Fox 2 Mornings Show mug.

On Thursday Mother Talley was a little more interested in her food than talking with us, but she did offer this advice on living a fulfilling life.

MOTHER TALLEY: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you that's my way of living.
MOTHER TALLEY:
I want to treat everybody the way I want to be treated. If I give you any advice that same advice comes back to me.
MOTHER TALLEY:
I don't have much education but what little sense I got, I try to use it.

Mother Talley moved to Michigan on 1935. She's says its nice being the third oldest person in the world but nothing tops being surrounded by five generations of pure love.

Happy Birthday Jeralean from all of us here at Fox 2.  For our viewers, please add your birthday wishes in the comment section below.

MAY 26 EVENT: Jeralean Talley will be honored during worship service, which begins at 11 a.m. Presentations will be made at 11:30 a.m. A  reception with refreshments and birthday cake will begin immediately following the service at 1:15 p.m. in the Education Building, adjacent to the church parking lot.

WHERE: NEW JERUSALEM MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH 821 Inkster Rd. Inkster, MI 48141
