Whittier, CA -

(FOX 11) A big baby surprises even hospital staff members, who say she's probably the biggest baby ever born at Whittier Hospital.

Baby Kaelyn weight 13 pounds 10 ounces when she was born!

"My hand is numb right now," laughed Yvette Canberos, Kaelyn's mom.  Canberos says she was caught off guard by just how high the numbers on the sale went when the nurse weighed her new bundle of joy.

"The pregnancy was good I wasn't really showing, so that's why I was kind of surprised when I saw her and they told me her weight," Canberos said.  The mom thought she was ready for the new member of the family, but now her to do list is longer than expected.  "She has most of the clothes newborn, but good thing I got her a few three to six months," she says.

The nurses and doctors were surprised too, they say this baby girl is the biggest baby delivered at Whittier Hospital Medical Center that anyone can remember.  "I've worked her for 15 years and this is the biggest baby to my knowledge that has been born here in the past 15 years for sure," Nurse Cindy Aguirre told FOX 11.

The Doctors did monitor baby Kaelyn, who was born via C-section, to make sure her heart and everything else was okay, but they say she's perfect.

"I was shocked to hear that this baby weighed 13 ponds 10 ounces and she's so cute and she's healthy and its great," said Aguirre.
