ATLANTA -

A family is demanding answers after the murder of their loved one in east Atlanta. Detectives say video game programmer Patrick Cotrona was gunned down on his way home early Sunday morning.

Kate Cotrona Krumm says her brother loved his job and loved living in East Atlanta Village. Family and friends of Patrick Cotrona gathered in the neighborhood to pay respects to him on Tuesday after he was shot and killed on the street in an attempted robbery just blocks from his home.

"We've received so many calls and texts and Facebook messages -- an amazing outreach from the east Atlanta community, who I know are sharing in our loss," said Kate Cotrona Krumm.

Police are looking into whether Cotrona's murder is at all related to other crimes in the eastern section of the city.

Authoritieshave yet to make an arrest in this case.

Friendsof the victim said they are planning a vigil for Friday.
