East Nottingham Family's Cat Found Shot To Death

"We've always had animals. We were both raised with animals so we're just animal lovers," said Brenda Hagy. She and husband Gary are remembering their orange tabby cat named Cody who they had for 14 years.

Gary said, "He was awesome. He just laid around. He was a good house pet."

But Memorial Day they let Cody out around 8:30 in the evening and less than an hour later went out on their patio to find a trail of blood.

"The dog found him back there. Somebody shot him for some reason," said Gary.

Police determined someone shot Cody with a small caliber firearm. It happened in a wooded area behind the Hagy's home on Little Elk Creek Road in East Nottingham. It's also where the Hagy's buried Cody next to this shed.

Brenda said, "I just can't believe anybody would do that to an animal, to a pet that's friendly."

The Hagy's are now concerned for their other pet a rescue lab and six feral cats they care for, had trapped and fixed. Those cats live in the woods behind the house. The Hagy's also have two grandchildren who play near the area where Cody was killed.

"We just don't know how far bullets go and we don't want another animal or any children or anyone to get hurt," worries Brenda.

Troopers with the Pennsylvania State Police Avondale Barracks are asking that if you know or saw anything to call them at 610-268-2022.
