NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

"So You Think You Can Dance" all stars came out to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre to learn a special collaboration. Their dancers teamed up with the FOX dance stars to teach them a few moves all for a good cause.

"It's a company that says to the world that dance is for everybody and that we celebrate the power of dance to change things to change people's hearts and minds," said Robert Battle,  the artistic director.

Founder Alvin Ailey, who lost his battle with HIV/AIDS in 1989, always used dance to celebrate the human spirit.  Battle has continued in his legacy by commissioning Rennie Harris to create "Home," which is inspired by the stories of people living with or affected by HIV.

"We reflect on that what he and so many have had to endure and to remind people that were still fighting and 'Home' is really about that fighting hip hop is a celebration of life," he said.

The "So You Think You Can Dance" alumni came to learn the routine so they can perform it at the AIDS Lifecycle charity in Los Angeles this Saturday to help raise awareness to this disease.

"I'm so excited to be here I've actually never been in the Alvin Ailey dance studio," said Kathryn McCormick, from Season 6. "It's a company that you hear about your whole life and you're like 'Man, I want to see them, I wish I could dance with them,' and it's very rare that you get that opportunity… unless you're living in New York or audition for the company."

"What 'So You Think You Can Dance' has done for television, this studio has done for dance in New York," former contestant Neil Haskell said. "I grew up knowing about Ailey. Seeing the posters on the wall oh my god, so cool to be part of that it's always a dream come true to work with amazing people."

"Part of the connection between Alvin Ailey and 'So You Think You Can Dance' -- we are both interested in bringing dance to global communities," Battle said.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre tickets are available for Lincoln Center performances starting June 12.
