Man arrested for shooting deaths of woman, teen son

JEFFERSON, Ga. -

A 47-year-old man is under arrest Wednesday after a woman and her 13-year-old son were found shot to death at a home on Gordon Street in Jefferson.

Shortly before 11 a.m., Jackson County 911 got a call for help from a home at 775 Gordon Street. The caller mentioned gunshots had been fired, according to Mike Ayers, special agent-in-charge of the GBI office in Athens.

Jefferson police officers and Jackson County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the home to find 47-year-old Marty Reeves. Authorities took Reeves, who lives at the home, into custody.

Authorities discovered the bodies of the woman, Andrea, and her son, Austin. Spc. Agent Ayers said they both likely died from gunshot wounds. Their names are expected to be released later Wednesday.

Ayers said Reeves is charged with murder in the two deaths and is being held at the Jackson County Jail.
