CHICAGO (AP) — Political observers will be closely watching as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie participates in a discussion at the Clinton Global Initiative in Chicago.

The Republican and potential 2016 White House contender will join former President Bill Clinton on stage Friday for a discussion titled "Cooperation and Collaboration: A Conversation on Leadership."

Christie has embraced bipartisanship he seeks re-election in his Democratic-leaning home state.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton opened the two-day annual conference on Thursday, touching on themes that could be part of a future Democratic presidential campaign.

She stressed the need for private and public partnerships to tackle issues like economic and educational inequality. She said climate change, "financial contagion," and nuclear proliferation were "too complex and cross-cutting" for any one government to solve alone.
