At least four people, including a pregnant woman, were injured when an SUV slammed into the side of a Brevard County Waffle House, backed out of the hole and drove off, authorities say.
The hit-and-run crash happened at about 4 a.m. at the Waffle House at 4465 Kings Street in Cocoa, near Interstate 95. Troopers say an SUV parked in the parking lot suddenly accelerated, traveled over the parking curb and slammed into the side of the building. The driver then backed out and fled the scene, they said.
Several people sitting at a table on the other side of the glass wall were injured, none seriously. Fire rescue officials who responded to the scene said a pregnant woman was among those hurt.
The vehicle was a silver or tan small SUV, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Troopers say the driver was described as possibly a black man wearing a white shirt with red stripes.
