As predicted, the periodical cicadas that spent the last 17 years dormant, have come back to life, at least in the garden of one New Jersey home.

Author and journalist Warren Bobrow says the insects are making it difficult to work from his home in Morristown.

"It starts at 3 a.m. It's like clock work. There is no escaping them. They are everywhere. They get in your hair. It makes for an interesting experience. I'm not able to work, but I don't mind the creatures," said Bobrow.

The bugs began to surface when the soil reached 64 degrees. The noisy creatures are harmless to humans and reproduce before dying.

Some areas in the Tristate could see as many as a billion cicadas per square mile this summer.

The future is here when it comes to vehicles. The auto industry has packed nearly 1,000 automobiles into the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side for the 2014 NY Auto Show.   Among the 'must-sees' is a hydrogen-powered vehicle and a prototype with cameras that allow you to see the ground underneath as you drive over it.
