ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Northbound lanes of Florida's Turnpike were closed in Orange County for most of Wednesday afternoon, due to a deadly crash.

Orange County Fire Rescue responded to an accident involving a pickup truck and a minivan just before noon.

Witnesses said they saw the minivan going in reverse in the middle lane of the turnpike, according to troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol.  The minivan was struck by the pickup truck and erupted into flames.

When troopers showed up, it was a fire mess.  The driver of the van was trapped inside his vehicle and died before crews could put out the fire. His identity has not been released.

The driver of the pick up truck was hurt and taken to the hospital, but we're told he has non life-threatening injuries.
