Credit counseling help for home mortgage troubles

Posted: Updated:

Even though a poll shows that many Americans say they believe the national economy is improving, here is Metro Atlanta, homeowners are still in jeopardy of losing their homes.

Now, a new national program is offering hope and lower payments. Jewel Brown has owned and run Hair by Jewel for five years. But, lately the economy has really taken its toll on her bottom line.

Brown said, "Most of my clients, unfortunately, lost their jobs or cut back on a lot, so I find myself having to cut back on my pieces because of it."

She says she's tried to make adjustments, even offering affordable packages to her clients to help maintain their business. But, in the last year, it's gotten to the point where she says she needs help keeping up with her mortgage payments.

And, she's not along. Statistics show that Metro Atlanta is still struggling.
