SCHILLER PARK, (FOX 32 News) -

After a devastating departure from store shelves for long-time Twinkie fans, they are making a big comeback! They will also be made right here in the Chicago area, in Schiller Park.

Hostess says Twinkies will be back on store shelves in three weeks – as soon as July 15. The new owners said the prices will also stay the same.

Hostess, who owns Twinkies, filed for bankruptcy in 2012. The company also let go about 15,000 union workers, many of whom worked at the Schiller Park plant. Employees were embroiled in a dispute with the previous company management.

Hostess is now owned by the private equity firms Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co. They think there's a profit to be made.

It remains to be seen if those unionized employees will be hired back as well. The Bakery Union President was quoted in a Monday report saying he's confident they will be hired back, but a company spokesman said that is highly doubtful.
