PHILADELPHIA -

In a surprising move today, abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell rejected a federal plea deal. The agreement, set forward by the prosecution, would have had Gosnell plead guilty to all 23 charges related to illegally distributing prescription painkillers.

Last month, Gosnell was convicted of killing three newborns and is sentenced to three consecutive life terms. The plea deal that Gosnell rejected today would have given Gosnell 20 years in prison to be served alongside the current three consecutive life terms.

The trial is scheduled for September 9th.
