Chicago-based Groupon unveils reservation service

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago-based Groupon unveiled Groupon Reserve Monday.

It's a service that lets consumers book reservations at high-end restaurants in 10 cities - including Boston, New York, and Los Angeles - with discounts of 20 to 40 percent.

It also gives local businesses the chance to draw crowds at slow hours through flexible pricing.

The service will expand this year into deals for prestigious spas, beauty salons, and hotels.

What's different here is that the promotions don't expire.

It's considered a saving grace for Groupon. The site is used by 42 million people, but is facing increased competition and higher marketing expenses.
