Boardwalk Being Built On Schuylkill River

PHILADELPHIA -

Many have seen the construction along the Schuylkill River trail and wondered what's going on. Turns out that the Schuylkill River Development Corporation (SRDC) is actually building a boardwalk.

When completed next fall, the 2,000-foot-long, 150-feet-wide boardwalk will extend the trail's current dead end at Locust Street to South Street. There, it will connect pedestrians to the South Street bridge through a ramp.

The boardwalk is also designed out, away from the shore, which means it will suspend users just slightly above the tidal waters of the Schuylkill.
