KISSIMMEE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

David Guerrero was walking to the bus stop to go to work last Wednesday morning when someone gunned down the 17-year-old. Why he was shot and what led up to it is a mystery, but Kissimmee Police say they now have a starting point.

Chief Lee Massie announced Tuesday that investigators have a person of interest in Guerrero's killing, and he's already in jail.

Christian Roszkowski, 33, is accused of a previously unannounced shooting at Kissimmee's Sun Club Apartments. Someone shot into a building there the same morning Guerrero died. The complex is a few blocks down Central Avenue from the makeshift memorial marking the spot where someone shot Guerrero.

Massie said Roszkowski is a person of interest in the Guerrero case, because the two shootings are "very close in proximity, [on] the same night [and] about 90 minutes apart."

Massie said his department as well as St. Cloud Police and Osceola County deputies are working to see whether Roszkowski played any role in a series of unexplained shootings in the area. Several houses were hit as well as a few vehicles.

The shootings have residents on edge.

"I'm scared to sit in my den at night," Gloria Harden said. "I just hope they catch whoever's doing it."

Said Cassandra Lomax: "When you go to bed at night, you don't know if you're going to wake up to gunfire or if somebody else is going to be shot."

Priest Roberto Morales prayed at the makeshift memorial Tuesday night marking the site of Guerrero's shooting.

"I came back to support them [the family] and to make a prayer for David. We do it solidarity of the family," Morales said.

In all, there have been mysterious shootings in at least nine different locations in Kissimmee, two locations in St. Cloud and two locations in unincorporated Osceola County. The Guerrero case is the only incident in which anyone was hurt.

Osceola County Sheriff Bob Hansell said his investigators are also trying to determine whether the shooting of a Kissimmee police cruiser in unincorporated Osceola is related to the series of shootings.

Forensic evidence ties four of the Kissimmee shootings to each other. All but one of the other shootings are still a mystery, but police say Roszkowski's arrest could begin the process of solving them.

Roszkowski is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the Sun Club shooting.

The police chiefs of Kissimmee and St. Cloud and the Sheriff's Office emphasize this is still an ongoing investigation. They are also receiving assistance from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
