A private farm just outside of Gettysburg didn't partake in the typical July 4 fireworks display.
Instead, re-enactors fired real firearm mortars with real cannon balls to demonstrate how the weapon could be used to blow through fortified walls.
The National Park Service calls these re-enactors living historians.
About 10,000 people took part in the event Thursday to honor the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.
