Teen surrenders in Columbus slaying

COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - A teenager has surrendered in the slaying of former Columbus radio personality David Rutherford.

The Columbus Ledqer-Enquirer (http://bit.ly/1aQkWQU ) reports that the 17-year-old gave himself up to officers Sunday afternoon at the office of his attorney, Stacey Jackson.

Jackson says he wanted to make sure his client was arrested in a safe environment because he had been listed as armed and dangerous. He says the teenager is not guilty and had nothing to do with Rutherford's death.

The 57-year-old former radio personality was found dead in the back parking lot of Greater Ward Chapel on June 26. He had worked for Magic 101.3 FM.
