Gas tank leak in Manhattan store

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Emergency crews responding to reports of a possible gas explosion inside a store on Manhattan's East Side found a leaky gas tank.

Firefighters were on the scene at 1st Ave. and E. 54th St. at about Noon on Monday.

It's is not clear why the acetylene tank began to leak inside the jewelry store.

Firefighters were able to safely remove it.

Acetylene gas is colorless and usually has a strong odor. It is often used in welding.

There were no injuries reported.
