UCF sends text alert about man with knife on campus

Posted: Updated:

A spokesperson at the University of Central Florida says there was no knife attack on campus overnight, though a student called to report seeing a man with a knife in a residence hall.

The university sent out an emergency text alert at 2:30 a.m. to students regarding an aggravated assault at Lake Clair Apartments, which are on campus. But UCF spokeswoman Courtney Gilmartin now says a student reported a man with a knife in one of the hallways at the apartments.

No one was attacked, she said.

The text alert sent to students described an aggravated assault suspect as a 6-foot-2 white man with a slender build and long brown hair, wearing a black shirt and white pants. He was armed with a knife, the text alert said.
