DETROIT (WJBK) -

There were a lot of booms and blasts, but even more oohs and aahs as a part of downtown Detroit was turned into Hong Kong Friday for the making of "Transformers 4".

The filming stirred up some lasting excitement.

"Downtown's been transformed. I'm in a different county. So It's all good," said one observer.

"Some explosions, it's pretty exciting," another said.

We also caught some folks playing hooky to experience a little star gazing.

"This is more fun," said one man. "I saw Mark Wahlberg earlier today."

Wahlberg was the main attraction for some. The actor has been spotted hanging out in Birmingham with his family.

Extras and film crews also mean a boost for business.

"Transformers 4" is set to be released in June of next year.

"It's nice to see something positive happening," one woman said.
