Bar manager arrested, accused of spiking employee's drinks
LONGWOOD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
The manager of a Longwood bar was arrested on Wednesday, accused of spiking the drinks of a female bartender who is one of his employees.
Jeffery Roberson, 48, is the manager of The Shovelhead Bar in Longwood. He is charged with five counts for the felony crime of poisoning with adulterated drugs.
Police said that, after last call on Tuesday evening, Roberson prepared several drinks for a female bartender and placed an illegal substance in her drink without her knowledge. After the female bartender consumed the beverages, she started feeling ill, called her boyfriend and told him she thought the manger had drugged her. She then admitted herself into the hospital for treatment.
Longwood police reviewed surveillance video from the bar and said they observed Roberson removing an object from his pocket and pouring it into the employee's drinking glass without her knowledge.
Roberson was booked into the Seminole County Jail but was released on bail the same day.
