Family In Norwood Getting Racist Notes For Past Two Years

NORWOOD, Pa. -

A bi-racial Norwood family has been getting racially-intimidating notes left on their van for the past two years. But the family says the latest note went too far when it targeted the family's one-year-old baby girl.

"Right here," Krista points to the place. The notes are put right on her windshield outside Krista Devonshire's Norwood, Delaware County home.

"I want justice served. I want to find out who is doing this," says Krista Devonshire.

This is the note found Wednesday morning. We have to censor most of it. It says:

"Go to Chester and live. 2 (blanks) were enough. Now you have a (blank) baby and (blank) toddler. Get out of here we do not want (blanks) around here."

You see, Krista is white and her children are bi-racial. Krista's one year old granddaughter was referred to in the notes as a welfare baby.

"I hope you are ready for your mixed race baby to come," the note reads.

The family has received five similar notes in the last two years. Every time the family has notified the Norwood police. But now, the family says enough is enough, and they are speaking out to FOX 29.

"My daughter is only a year old. If you are that low to target someone who can't even defend themselves, I don't understand what kind of person that makes you," says Daisha DeMarco, Krista's daughter.

One of the notes mentions Krista's 15-year-old Donovan and his catholic education and calls him a "dumb (blank)."

"People are always going to say something about you and everything, say something about me. But once you cross my family. That hurt me. I was fired up this morning," says Donovan Pierce.

The family has no idea who may be doing this, but they think it's someone in the neighborhood, someone they know.

"I don't understand how someone could be this ignorant," says Pierce.

"A coward, a very hateful person. Someone who must have so much hate for themselves to be doing something like this," says Daisha.

The family says other neighbors have been getting similar notes as far back as 10 years ago. Norwood police are investigating the incidents. So far they don't know who is responsible.
