MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. -

A Burlington County woman gets four years' probation after police say she scammed thousands of dollars from family and friends by pretending she had cancer.

Investigators say 40-year-old Lori Stilley told people she had stage-three bladder cancer.

Relatives and friends then started helping her out financially. They held a T-shirt sale and a fundraising banquet. They set-up a raffle and also covered nearly the entire cost of her wedding.

Police say Stilley even wrote an e-book about coping with cancer.

But, according to investigators, she never ever had the disease.

Many became suspicious when she said she was doing better and felt a miracle coming on.

In total, Stilley received more than $14,000 in donations.

Today, the families of those scammed spoke out at the sentencing. One man said:

We don't want to hear we're sorry, we don't want to hear you were right, we don't want to hear you were wrong. Just acknowledge what has happened. Let's move on because that's the only way we're ever going to heal.

Lori's sister was the one who eventually turned her in.
