Pet Food Recall 2013

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Procter & Gamble is voluntarily recalling some of its pet food products over concerns they may contain salmonella.

The company says it discovered the bacteria in one of its plants.  Salmonella can sicken both pets and humans who handle the pet food.

Specific lots of Eukanuba dry dog foods, Iams dry dog foods and Iams dry cat foods are being recalled as a precautionary measure.  P&G says that the amount being recalled is roughly one-tenth of one percent of its annual production.

No salmonella related illnesses have been reported, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Anyone who has purchased the recalled products should discontinue using it and throw it out.

Contact P&G toll-free at 800-208-0172 (Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST)
