CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A Cook County jail inmate awaiting sentencing for a 2007 murder died Friday.

Percy Banks was found unresponsive Friday afternoon in his cell, according to a spokesperson from the Cook County Sheriff's office.

Banks, 64, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 3:37 p.m. Friday, the sheriff's office said.

An autopsy Saturday determined Banks died of coronary atherosclerosis and liver cirrhosis due to hepatitis C infection, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. His death was ruled natural.

Banks was convicted in Dec. 2012 of murder, the sheriff's office said.
