CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

The death of a woman killed when a 13-year-old boy accidentally set his father's truck in motion and ran her over outside her Southwest Side home Thursday morning has been ruled an accident.

The truck struck Ruilan Zeng, 61, outside her home in the 4500 block of South St. Louis Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. An autopsy conducted Sunday determined Zeng's cause of death to be multiple injuries resulting from a truck striking a pedestrian, and her death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner's office.

The truck was initially in an alley in the 4400 block of South St. Louis Avenue when the boy's father exited to put something in the back about 7:10 a.m., police said. The teen got into the passenger seat and accidentally bumped the gearshift.

The boy tried to brake, but hit the gas by mistake and the truck crashing into two garages and a vehicle before striking Zeng in a backyard about a block away, authorities said.

Zeng was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 5:25 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

The boy was not hurt, police said.

Police cited the father for leaving an unattended vehicle and driving on a suspended license, police said. No charges have been filed as of Thursday night.
