Police are searching for an elderly man who suffers from dementia and went missing Saturday from the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Benigno Mendez, 70, walked away angry from his home and was last seen in the 2700 block of North Hampden Court at 2:45 p.m., according to a missing person alert from Area North detectives.

Mendez suffers from dementia and can walk long distances, the alert said. He speaks Spanish and does not carry any money or ID.

Mendez is described as a 5-foot-7, 140-pound Hispanic man with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved blue plaid shirt, blue jeans, socks and flip-flops.
