Multiple Injuries After Tour Bus Overturns On Freeway

Posted: Updated:

Officials say the cause of today's tour bus accident was due to an unsafe lane change.  The bus driver, Jiquan Yang of Alhambra, tried to veer left, hit another vehicle, then overcorrected to the right and crashed the bus through a chain link fence and skidded down the embankment.   California highway patrol says the bus driver was properly licensed and was not charged but FOX 11 is learning more about some violations filed against the bus company involved in today's crash.

The bus operator, Da Zhen travel agency is headquartered in Monterey park and according to federal department of transportation records nine buses and nine drivers are licensed with the company.

Federal safety compliance records show in the past two years there were 37 inspections and no crashes involving the company.

However, there were three unsafe driving violations since february of this year.

One driver was cited for following too close to another car in nevada.  Two other drivers were cited for speeding 6-14 miles over the speed limit, both of those cases happened in arizona.  It's unknown whether the driver of today's crash was involved in those violations.

Federal records show 56.3 percent of motor carriers in rank higher than Da Zhen in terms of on road safety but the company does have a satisfactory record overall.
