DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -

A soggy start to Labor Day's holiday weather couldn't dampen the spirits  of people who braved the Monday morning rain to get together for a Douglasville celebration.

FOX 5 Atlanta's Marc Teichner reports the day's festivities will go on as scheduled. The group, however, did think better to move some events indoor.

The Labor Day Parade went from about 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. as planned, making its way down Church Street in downtown Douglasville. Fireworks are expected to follow about  9 p.m. They should be viewable from Arbor Place Mall and surrounding areas. It's sponsored by the Sweetwater Shrine Club, open to the public and will not charge admission.

In between, a Labor Day BBQ was held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hunter Park, sponsored by the Douglasville Masonic Lodge.

Over in Marietta, the Art in the Park festival went on as scheduled despite some wet weather.

Valerie Stickles of Penguin Arts said that the rain likely reduced the crowd by as much as 90 percent.
