ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Revel Casino Hotel is laying off 115 workers as it tries to cut expenses and become profitable in Atlantic City's casino market.

A casino spokeswoman told The Associated Press the cuts were announced to employees Thursday morning.

The affected employees were permanent workers let go because of slowing business conditions after Labor Day weekend.

It was Revel's second major layoff this year. In April, the casino cut 83 jobs.

Revel emerged from bankruptcy protection in May with less debt and new owners.

The Revel layoffs come on the same day that the two Trump casinos announced 200 layoffs.

Atlantic City's main casino workers' union complained to state labor and political officials on Thursday about Revel Casino Hotel's use of part-timers, saying Revel uses twice the city's average.
