Italian Food Faux Pas

PHILADELPHIA -

Do you put ketchup on your pasta? If you answered yes, then you are committing a major culinary faux pas.

There is now a list of mistakes often made by Americans that make the Italians cringe.

According to the Academia Barilla in Parma, you should never drink a cappuccino during a meal, only for breakfast or after a meal.

Never serve risotto and pasta as a side dish, unless it is part of a specialty.

Don't put oil in the pasta water.

Popular dishes such as pasta with chicken and fettuccine alfredo at "Italian" restaurants are not actually Italian.

And those red and white checkered tablecloths we associate with said "Italian" restaurants? They are unknown to Italy.
